NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya has slammed former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale after he asked Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli to stop interfering with affairs of the Luhya community.
Khalwale told Atwoli to cease commenting on issues to do with the Luhya community, after he confirmed he is a relative of ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Reacting to the sentiments, Magaya told off the former senator, saying he should also not assume to be the spokesman of members of the Luhya community.
"But neither you Khalwale can speak for the Abaluyia. We have brains. We will choose our destiny. In the meantime enjoy the feast brother," he tweeted on Monday night.
Defending himself after a section of Western Kenya leaders attacked him for hosting Raila over the Christmas, Atwoli said the leaders should not read too much into the meeting since the ODM boss is his relative.
“You know that he (Raila) is my relative and he visits me every Boxing Day when he brings around his family. We don’t discuss politics during such meetings,” the COTU boss said.
Khalwale took issue with the remarks and insinuated Atwoli did not belong to the Luhya community but that of Raila (Luo).
"Thank you Mzee Atwoli for confirming what many have suspected all along. Namely who your relatives are and therefore your real identity. Sir, on matters ethnicity, please stick to your lane and speak/plan for your community. Kindly keep off the affairs of the Abaluhyia," the vocal politician said on Monday.
