The Amani National Congress (ANC) party has distanced itself from former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s recent claims pointing at its possible union with Deputy President William Ruto's camp.
Khalwale has recently been documented endorsing Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid and has severally roped in the entire Luhya region and its top leaders in the exodus from the opposition side.
But in an interview on Milele FM’s ‘Kivumbi’ early Monday, ANC Secretary General Barack Muluka said that the party through its leader Musalia Mudavadi is not part of Khalwale’s plans.
‘’Sisi hatuko humo na anafaa awache mambo ya kutuingiza katika mikataba yake na Ruto (we are not party to Khalwale’s agreement with Ruto in any way),’’ said Muluka.
Muluka who doubles up as a political commentator further doubted Khalwale’s union with Ruto, questioning his sudden change of heart towards the DP.
Initially a leading critic of the Deputy Head of State, he wondered how the former Kakamega gubernatorial aspirant suddenly changed his heart and joined Ruto’s camp.
‘’Iweje Khalwale ambaye hivi majuzi alikuwa anamkashifu Naibu Wa Rais ghafla anamtakia urais (how come the man who was until recently Ruto’s leading critic is suddenly on his (Ruto) side),’’ he wondered.
Khalwale in May claimed that both Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula are willing to join Ruto ahead of his bid.
Both leaders have, however, since hinted at participating in the same race come 2022.
