Two people have died and several others injured in a grisly road accident in Migingo area about five kilometres from Mtito Andei town along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
This happened after a bus which had 49 passengers collided with a truck on Tuesday morning.
According to reports by the Standard, the Mombasa bound bus belonging to Daima connections Sacco collided head-on with a truck which was heading to Nairobi.
"The driver of the vehicle that was from the parking slot joined the highway without due diligence," Makueni County Commander Joseph ole Naipeyan said as quoted by the Standard.
"He didn't check whether there was an oncoming vehicle hence colliding with the bus which was headed to Mombasa," he added.
The police commander said the driver of the truck escaped unhurt while the bus driver and one passenger perished in the accident.
Those who were injured were taken Makindu hospital and the two bodies also taken in the same hospital's mortuary.
The vehicles have been towed to Mtito Andei police station.
