Flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir has reacted to the invalidation of footballer turned politician McDonald Mariga.
Mariga was Jubilee Party's candidate in the Kibra by-elections.
Taking to Twitter moments after IEBC invalidated Mariga's candidature, Kipkorir took a dig at TangaTanga - a faction associated with Deputy President William Ruto - that was allegedly fronting Mariga's candidature for failing to ensure their candidate was well prepared for the race.
''Before one vies for any political post in Kenya, you must have two Mandatory Documents: Kenyan ID & Voters Card .... TangaTanga Party thought Mariga can vie with Betin Card? They thought Kibra was a Casino? And the noise they had given us. Hubris isn’t equal to intelligence,'' tweeted Kipkorir.
IEBC said that it could not find Mariga's details in the list of 2017 voters.
Some people including lawyer and political analyst Steve Ogolla had cast doubt on Mariga's credibility to vie for Kibra seat.
''MARIGA must be a man of deep faith to imagine voters as fools to elect a leader who does not relate to them at the ballot. Leadership is not self actualization or personal amusement as he would have us believe. If he's not a voter in the constituency, let him hold his peace,'' read Ogolla's September 3 tweet.
Mariga was accompanied by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale to the IEBC offices. He has vowed to appeal the decision.
