Police in Butere are holding a man who has since confessed to killing his wife.
The man was arrested in Siaya county on Wednesday, after being suspected of having killed his 44-year-old wife in Butere and then fleeing to his sister's home in Ugenya.
It's reported that he committed the heinous crime at their home on Tuesday night, by hitting her with a piece of wood, then reported himself to his sister.
The Standard reports that the incident happened at Madeku village, after the two landed in a quarrel after returning from a drinking spree.
The incident was confirmed by Butere Sub County Police Commander Alex Makau.
The police boss also confirmed that the suspect is in custody, and that will be arraigned in court once the ongoing investigations are complete.
"We have detained the suspect over the suspected killing of his wife. We'll take him to court soon after investigations," he said.
The accused is reported to have hit the wife with a piece of wood and left her lifeless body in the house.
The body of the woman was discovered by the suspect's younger brother, after his sister called him (the brother) to confirm if the suspect had indeed killed her.
He was then arrested and detained at the Luanda Konyango Police Post.
He was then handed over to Butere police and held at the Butere Police Station.
