Marie Fredriksson who sang in the Roxette band, has breathed her last at the age of 61, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported.
The Swedish star's death was confirmed by her manager in a statement to the media.
"You were the most wonderful friend for over 40 years," her bandmate Per Gessle said as quoted by the BBC..
"Things will never be the same, " she added.
The globally renowned singer was diagnosed with a barin tumor in 2002 according to the Guardian newspaper.
Doctors working on her case put her survival chances at 25 percent.
She proved the doctors wrong after surviving the ailment.
However, other health complications kicked in thanks to complications triggered by the rigorous radiation therapy that she was subjected to.
The Roxette band achieved international fame after their 'The Look' song was played in the United States of America (USA) by a DJ.
"The Look' reached the number one spot in 1989 on the Billboard Hot 100 according to the Cable News Network (CNN).
"Marie leaves us a grand musical legacy. Her amazing voice -- both strong and sensitive -- and her magical live performances will be remembered by all of us who was lucky enough to witness them," Dimberg Jernberg Management said in a statement seen by CNN..
