Gor Mahia Youth FC are the new FKF national division two, Eastern zone 2018/19 champions.
The team emerged victorious after holding rivals EPZ Balaji FC to a goalless draw in a match played on Sunday at Jericho's Camp Toyoyo stadium.
EPZ Balaji, Equity Bank FC, and Gor Mahia Youth won their respective groups in FKF division two Eastern zone; groups A, B, and C, that had 38 teams drawn from Nairobi County, Nairobi West, Aberdares, and Mt Kenya branches.
The division two play-offs turned out to be a Nairobi County branch affair, as the three teams locked horns in the round-robin duel to determine the winner.
Equity Bank lost 2-1 to Balaji, before succumbing to a 3-1 defeat against Gor Mahia Youth.
With the bankers losing their two matches, Gor Mahia Youth just needed a point to secure the championship.
"As a young team we expect to go far and we are targeting KPL promotion by 2020 through sports evangelism," Balaji coach Christopher Ochieng said after the match.
On his part, Gor Mahia Youth coach Tom Ogweno emphasised the need to tap and nurture budding talents for the development of the game.
"Our target is to build the youth team. Today's game was tactical and we had to rely on goal difference to prevail against the experienced Balaji. Thus, our team is a developing side that helps youth to grow compared to Balaji that had fielded a number of former Kenya Premier League players," he said.
