Veteran politician Kalembe Ndile has urged Deputy President Dr William Ruto to embrace forgiveness and let bygones be bygones.
Speaking to members of the press on Thursday, Kalembe claimed that the DP was living in denial and appeared not to have come to terms with the handshake that brought President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga together.
He warned that Ruto's uncompromising stance on Raila could cost the deputy president the presidency.
"His stubborn heart, the deputy president's, will cost him the 2022 seat. When you are stubborn towards everything, even towards those who want peace, that is not a good thing. (Hio roho ngumu yake, ya deputy president, hata ndio itafanya asione hio kiti ya 2022. Ukiwa mgumu kwa kila kitu, ata unakuwa mgumu kwa wale wanaleta amani, hio sio kitu kizuri.), " Kalembe Ndile said.
Mr Ndile appealed to the deputy president to go slow and support the handshake.
His words came amid a war of words between DP Ruto and Raila.
Ruto has long accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader of political deception and of a plot to sow discord in the governing Jubilee party.
The two leaders fell out in the lead up to the 2013 elections over political differences that saw Raila lose the vote-rich Rift Valley region support.
