Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi now claims that ODM leader Raila Odinga is stronger than his own party leader; ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi.

Speaking in Luanda on Sunday, Osotsi said that Raila demonstrated that he remains a major politician in the country when he led his troops to retain the Kibra parliamentary seat, a race where ANC had also fielded a candidate.

He said that the fact that Raila managed to beat both Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula, yet members of the Luhya community form the majority in Kibra, is proof that he is still powerful among the Luhyas.

“Sixty per cent of Kibra constituency is made up of the Luhya community but Owalo (ANC candidate Eliud Owalo) scored below 30 per cent,” said the MP when he attended a fundraiser to support a bodaboda group in Emabungo Ward.

He once again took a swipe at Mudavadi, claiming that he was of no help at all to Owalo, adding that Owalo personally marshalled the 5,000 votes he garnered, in a race, that was won by ODM's Imran Okoth.

"The 5,000 votes Eliud Owalo got in the recent Kibra by-election were the result of his own efforts,” he added.

He advised Mudavadi and Wetangula, both of whom harbour presidential ambitions in the 2022 poll, to seek political blessings from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Osotsi has not been in good terms with Mudavadi and the entire party over his close links with Raila, with attempts to eject him proving futile so far.
