High Court Judge John Mativo on Friday ruled that Moi University's upcoming graduation will go on as planned.
This comes after a group of students who missed on the final graduation list moved to the court seeking to stop the August 22, 2019 graduation.
Justice Mativo pointed out that the final ruling will be issued on August 20, where the over 500 affected students will know their fate.
On Wednesday, over 700 students camped outside the university's administration block demanding that their names be added on the final graduation list.
The students were denied a chance to graduate over missing marks and huge fees balances.
However, the students complained that some of their lecturers willingly refused to submit their marks as they were on a quiet strike to push for their pay and allowances.
Most of the affected students were from the School of Business and Economics.
At the Nairobi Campus, over 500 students had contributed to pay their lecturer so that their names could be forwarded.
Unfortunately, the university's Senate had already approved the names of those who were to be included in the final graduation list.
Moi University’s Public Relations Officer Patricia Cherambos asked the students to clear with the university on any issues they could be facing so as to be included in the next graduation which will be in December.
