Kositany says the EACC has failed in its mandate as it takes a long time to conduct the investigation concerning various issues.

“It said that EACC stopped farmers from being paid until investigations are complete and up to now they are still investigating. When will they complete their investigation?” said the MP in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

He wondered why EACC is still investigating the maize scandal yet there is only one entity to be investigated which is the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).

“What is there to be investigated if farmers took their maize to NCPB and it was received? Farmers must be paid their money with immediate effect. Why are they taking decades to investigate just a single case?” noted the first-time MP.

The Jubilee legislator said he does not see the commission surviving for the next two years adding that he will lobby Members of Parliament to disband it as it is causing more harm than good to Kenyans.

This comes after it was revealed that EACC wrote to the NCPB and the Ministry of Agriculture stopping payments of farmers until investigations into the alleged maize scandal are complete.

Farmers owe NCPB over Sh3.5 billion for the maize they supplied since December last year.
