Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has urged President Uhuru Kenya to roll out Universal Health Care (UHC) in the entire country as part of his transformative legacy.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the county boss said that the move will enable Kenyans across the country to get free health care.
"Kenyans should not demand anything less than free, quality healthcare; the same as what is provided in topnotch private hospitals in their public facilities," he said.
"To me, health is a human right and I know Kenya can afford UHC from her own taxes," he added.
According to the vocal governor, the quest to help Kenyans get quality and free healthcare will only be possible if the country's leadership will be committed to serving the people as well as have it's priorities right.
"Kenyans must also start to elect leaders who are clean and have a clear development track record," said Mutua.
Mutua, who made the remarks after he met with a team of researchers who were in Machakos to study the success of UHC said he is ready to cement President Kenyatta's legacy if elected as the Head of State in the 2022 polls.
The team of researchers who met with Mutua include Mr Robert Yates who is the head of the Centre on Global Health Security at Chatham House and Risper Walumbe from AMREF.
The team expressed their satisfaction with the Machakos County Government's efforts in ensuring quality services among other service delivery measures.
