Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday issued an apology to Ukambani leaders over his decision to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking on Monday at his Yatta home, Kalonzo said his decision may have angered some leaders from the region, adding that he was sorry.
"I would like to apologize to all leaders from this region and whom I might have unknowingly wronged due the remarks I make," Kalonzo said as quoted by the Star.
He noted that does not have grudge with any leaders from the region, adding that his aim is to unite all Ukambani leaders.
"I want to say that on my side, I have no problem with any particular leader from this region and all I seek is unity of purpose," he noted.
Kalonzo said he reached out to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, and invited him for the meeting, but the latter said he could not make it.
"I had called governor Mutua yesterday and he had said that thought he won't make it for the meeting, he would send his deputy. I wonder whether his deputy is still coming," Kalonzo added.
The meeting brought together political, religious and corporate leaders from the region to chart a way forward.
