Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru yesterday revealed what she believes was the reason Deputy President William Ruto did not attend her wedding on Saturday July 13 2019.
The event was held at Kamugumo Primary School in Ngariama Ward, Gichugu Constituency. Waiguru married his 10-year friend and city lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in a traditional wedding (ngurario) ceremony attended by many but DP Ruto conspicuously missed as he toured Tharaka Nithi County.
Speaking on KTN's Point Blank, Waiguru said that she invited almost everyone to he special day. However, the governor denied claims that the list of her guests was aimed at passing a political message.
"The invite was out to almost everybody but the ones who show up are the ones who either show that you are in their political friendship or formation. Attendance was voluntary" she said.
When quizzed further whether the Deputy President was invited or not, the governor confirmed that indeed she invited him.
"No. He was invited," she answered.
Those who attended included President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister and ODM party leader Raila Odinga, former Vice President and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Meru Woman Rep Florence Kajuju and Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga.
Others were Sports CS Amina Mohamed, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, Senate Minority Leader James Orengo, Transport CS James Macharia, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi, Youth and Gender Affair CAS Rachel Shebesh, Transport PS Esther Koimett, Gender Commission member Priscilla Nyokabi, Busia woman representative Florence Mutua and Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege among others.
