Former presidential candidate Abduba Dida has waded into the raging Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate.
Writing on Twitter on Saturday, Mr Dida appeared to take issue with reports that a rival rally to the BBI meeting had been cancelled.
In his pointed tweet, he held the view that the much-hyped initiative has nothing to do with bringing Kenyans together.'
According to him, the BBI is about President Uhuru Kenyatta and his long-time political adversary Raila Odinga coming together to kill other parties and stifle any opposition to the initiative.
''SOME TRUTH! So now Hon Uhuru and Hon Raila have collaborated to torture small parties and other leaders. You can't even be allowed to hold events or attend state functions unless you are supporting BBI. This BBI thing has nothing to do with uniting this nation!'' the former presidential candidate said.
Dida's view is consistent with that of Deputy President Dr William Ruto's allies who have claimed that BBI is about securing the political interests of the head of state and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader.
Law enforcement authorities issued a communication to the effect that a rival rally in Mumias to be led by Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula had been cancelled so as to avert security issues.
