The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary expressed her support in a Facebook post, branding it the position of women.

She called for an expansion of the presidency to include the president, the deputy president, a prime minister and two deputy prime ministers.

The slots should be shared equally among the opposite gender.

"Position of Women: We recommend that the Presidency shall be expanded to include the President, DP, PM and 2DPMs, of which 50:50 opposite gender rule shall apply, " Governor Waiguru's Facebook post read.

Her intervention comes amid the ongoing collection of views from Kenyans by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

It also comes amid the referendum talk that will alter the country's governance structure.

Her suggestion is in stark contrast to Thirdway Alliance's Dr Ekuru Aukot's Punguza Mizigo initiative.

Kenyans will have the opportunity to weigh in on the governance structure that they want should a referendum be held.

There have been concerns from some quarters that the country's governance structure is not inclusive.

Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has publicly said that a referendum is inevitable.

He has claimed that a change in the country's governance structure will go a long way in preventing tension that follows general elections.
