The seven brands are Nuteez, True nuts, Fressy, Supa meal, Sue’s Naturals, Zesta and Nutty.

KEBS has directed the companies manufacturing the seven brands to recall all their products from the market.

“The suspension follows test results undertaken by KEBS which confirm that their levels of aflatoxin is higher than the maximum limit allowed by the Standard. The Kenya Standard, ‘KS EAS 60: 2013, Peanut Butter – Specification’ states that the maximum total aflatoxin content, is 15 parts per billion (ppb) and gives maximum value for Aflatoxin B1 5 ppb maximum,” said KEBS in a statement as quoted by Citizen Digital

KEBS moved on to suspend the permits of companies manufacturing the said brands.

These brands will no longer be able to use the KEBS Standardization mark as they are unfit for human consumption due to their excess levels of Aflatoxin.

“KEBS will continue to undertake surveillance of the products at the factory and market to ensure that the public is protected from harmful products,” noted KEBS in the statement.

This is the second time Nuteez manufactured by Jetlak Foods Limited is being suspended this year.
