Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has decried a move by the National Police Service to withdraw security detail of VIPs facing criminal cases in court.
Addressing the media in Nakuru on Tuesday, Ngunjiri claimed his security had been withdrawn, adding that the move could divide the country further.
The MP noted that he had been requested to handover his firearm to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Nakuru, adding he was now a 'naked man'.
"As you can see me now I do not have any weapon for self-protection. I am naked but the people are my security. This is a witch-hunt. I beg our President, the way things are going will divide Kenyans in a very bad way,” said the MP.
He claimed his wrongdoing was criticising a reported incident where Deputy President William Ruto was reportedly locked out of his official residence in Mombasa.
"That because I said the DP had his stuff removed from his Mombasa residence. (Ati mimi nilisema DP alitolewa vitu kwa nyumba yake Mombasa). But this was in the paper and I do not see any offence in it,” he added.
The vocal MP claimed he is being punished over his closeness to the DP.
