The said candidates were picked based on academic qualification and experience among other aspects.

Out of the 17 candidates, 10 of them are currently working at the Auditor General’s office. The candidates include Deputy Auditor General William Agunda, David Kanja, Edwin Kamar, Dennis Kariuki, Francis Njenga, David Gichana, Alex Rugera, Sylvester Kiini, Elizabeth Mwathi and Leonard Lari.

PSC released the names for gazetting last week before they were made public ahead of the interviews. It has emerged that there is intense lobbying from the government circles over the replacement of the Auditor General.

The interviews of the candidates are set to kick off on Tuesday and will take a maximum of four days.

“Shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews at the Annex Boardroom, Commission House, along Harambee Avenue, Nairobi, on the dates and times specified in the schedule,” reads the advert by the selection panel, as quoted by Standard.

The candidates have been asked to bring with them their original documents including passports and Identification Cards to the interview room. Candidates without these items will be locked out of the interview.
