Cherangany member of parliament Joshua Kutuny has hinted at contesting in the Langata parliamentary race in 2022.
Speaking during a thanksgiving rally at the DC Grounds in Kibra, the Kieleweke legislator described Langata constituency as veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga's sitting room.
He appeared to suggest that if he were to run against the current MP Nixon Korir, he would stand a better chance of winning."
"This sitting room which belongs to Raila... If I decide to run, I talk to the people, between Nixon and me, who stands a better chance of winning it? (Hii sitting room ya baba hii... Mimi nikisimama, nitupe ngeli, mimi na Nixo, nani atapata mapema), " the Cherangany member of parliament said. (7:27-7:43)
The constituency was long represented in the National Assembly by the former prime minister.
Nixon Korir won the seat in 2017 in what many political pundits decals a shock victory.
At the rally on Sunday, the ODM leaders expressed their desire to recapture the seat, saying that they were working a strategy towards that.
Langata constituency extended to Kibra until the promulgation of the new constitution which divided the constituency into two.
A section of Rift Valley leaders has vowed to ensure that Kutuny is not re-elected as the Cherangany MP.
His opposition to Dr William Ruto's 2022 presidential aspirations has been castigated by the DP's allies as betrayal
