Police in Kakamega county are holding a man accused of killing his son after an argument over maize.

70-year-old John Makokha allegedly slashed 36-year-old Habil Amunze for allegedly stealing six tins of maize, an incident that happened at their home in Eshirembe Village.

Area chief Aggrey Maina confirmed the incident, but noted that his is not the first time the deceased is being accused of such and has repeatedly been accused of stealing from the old man.

He said that the father descended on the son, who was reportedly drunk at the time, with a machete, killing him, reports the Citizen Digital.

The body of Amunze was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital, with the suspect set to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

This comes only two weeks after a man killed his father over a plate of ugali in the same county.

In the August 1 incident, 36-year-old Musa Luvowa struck his father Jamen Mulama (80) with a jembe (hoe) at their home in Muranda location in Shinyalu Sub County over the food.

The incident was confirmed by Shinyalu District Officer Mofat Moseti who said that the father died on the spot after the attack.
