Deputy President William Ruto will eventually resign from the government without warning anyone, law professor Makau Mutua has predicted.
Dr Ruto is battling to control President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession politics but has faced fierce opposition from the president's handlers and opposition politicians.
In the process, Ruto has been traversing the country in preparation for the battle with his allies accusing certain government officials of mistreating him.
However, Makau says the DP will soon say "enough is enough" and walk his own path ahead of 2022 presidential polls.
"I predict DP @WilliamsRuto will RESIGN from government ABRUPTLY and WITHOUT WARNING. Methinks he’s laid his plans. The timing will be a thunderbolt — to PARALYZE opponents and MAXIMIZE his exit. JIPANGE!" he said.
Last week, details emerged that the DP had been locked out of State House in Mombasa, a claim he vehemently denied.
However, two of his allies; Susan Kihika and David Gikaria, were blocked from attending a presidential function in Nakuru.
On Sunday, leaders from Rift Valley led by Governors Paul Chepkwony and Stephen Sang urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to honour his deal by supporting Ruto's bid.
Despite the crisis in Jubilee party, Ruto has often maintained his cool, only allowing his supporters to take on his critics.
