The millionaire businessman admits that he was involved in the gold that is subject to investigations but only as an adviser and nothing beyond.

Jhanda said gold trading Dubai based Zlivia company reached him for consultation services, which was basically to advise the company on how to purchase gold, what is needed at the customs and other exportation requirements.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV on Friday, Zaheer Jhanda said he was to earn about Sh1.4 billion for offering his consultation services to the Dubai company.

He also noted that the gold in question is not yet in the country.

It had earlier been alleged that the said gold had been held at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

“We are waiting for the gold to come from Congo so that we are able to export it to Dubai,” said Jhanda as quoted by edaily.

The businessman also said this was the first time for him to engage in business that involved gold and that he was not able to differentiate genuine gold from a fake one.

“My role was not to establish whether the gold was genuine or not. That is not my line of business,” he noted.
