The political class is currently divided between the leading political camps, with regards to the ongoing push for constitutional amendments, political analyst Prof Herman Manyora has said.
He argues that the country is currently divided between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga camp and the other one led by Deputy President William Ruto.
The commentator states that though most have endorsed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), its no secret that their views of the push are informed by the stand of their camps.
He says that as things stand now, those in complete support of the BBI are in the Raila-Uhuru camp while those questioning its implementation procedure are Ruto allies.
"Where we are today, if you are not on this side, you can only be on the other side. You are either with the William Ruto wing or the other side," he said on K24's Punchline, Sunday night.
Despite having declared their support for the push, Ruto allies have not been comfortable with the ongoing BBI forums, accusing ODM of hijacking the process for political mileage.
The DP has also urged the BBI task force to release a schedule of how it seeks to arrive at the second draft, accusing organisers of the forums of misusing public funds.
On the other hand, supporters of Uhuru and Raila have continued accusing the DP of opposing the initiative, though he has since declared that he has nothing against it.
