Questions have emerged after a contractor hired by embattled Governor Ferdinand Waititu abandoned a road construction project in Ruiru before completion.
The residents of the area now want the besieged county boss to shed more light on what transpired between the county government and the contractor in question.
Led by Biashara Ward MCA Elijah Njoroge, the residents now want the governor to speak out on the stalled projects after it cost the taxpayers Sh106 million project. Waititu, who is facing graft charges, unveiled the project five months ago but now it is not yet complete and the contractor is nowhere to be seen.
Waititu has since been given a 14 days ultimatum to respond to the query failure to which the residents have promised to take an unspecified against the government.
“We suspect that the money has been mismanaged or have ended up in some people’s pockets. It’s five months now since the project was commissioned and nothing has happened on the ground,” the Ward rep said, as quoted by Standard.
The MCA also said that the plans are underway to impeach the governor after he failed to meet the expectations of the residents and voters in specific. Njoroge has now vowed to push for his impeachment if something is not done in time.
