Nominated Nairobi MCA Ann Thumbi has narrated how she met and fell in love with the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Thumbi said that she met Okoth in 2013 while working at Nairobi's Aga Khan University Hospital. Okoth was then in his 30s while she was in her early 20s.
According to the MCA, the MP asked her out and they become close friends. He later requested her to be part of his campaign team while seeking the Kibra parliamentary seat.
Okoth won the seat and helped her be nominated to the Nairobi County Assembly.
Two years later, they were blessed by a baby boy called Jayden. The nominated MCA describes Okoth as a loving and responsible dad.
“He was a good man. So loving and always positive about life," Thumbi was quoted by Daily Nation on Thursday.
“Being keen on education, he always asked how Jayden was doing in school and whenever he could he would check on his progress with the teachers,” she added
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was the first leader to reveal the secret love affair to the public.
“We are cognizant of the fact that Ken had a son with one of the nominated Nairobi MCA by the name Ann Thumbi alias Anita. The two love birds did not hide the fact that they shared a son,” Sonko said as quoted by the Standard.
His revelations were backed by South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro who in a Facebook post said that indeed Jayden is Ken Okoth's son.
"Hon Ken Okoth was my friend, Hon. Ann Nthumbi, MCA is my very close friend, I know the truth and so does Hon. Sakaja. We agree with H.E Gov. Sonko. Ann and Ken had a child together," MP Osoro wrote.
