Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has expressed concerns over the direction the country is taking following recent events around the return of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna and arrest of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
In a post on his Facebook page on Sunday, the MP noted that since the famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, there has been a series of events he termed 'politics of raping the country's democracy' and blatant disregard of court orders.
Ali warned that such acts were leading the country back to the Kanu era.
He said even as there is the ongoing push for a constitutional change through the Buiding Bridges Initiative (BBI), it won't have any impact without addressing such issues.
"BBI without Miguna Miguna and respect to our courts is utter nonsense. (BBI BILA MIGUNA NA HESHIMA KWA MAHAKAMA ZETU NI UPUZI MTUPU)," the MP said in part of his post.
"These politics of kings of illegal coalitions have crossed the line and started to lead us back to Kanu era, courts have becoe powerless and their rules disregarded by those who call themselves leaders of this country. (Siasa hizi za WAFALME WA MUUNGANO HARAMU sasa zimevuka mpaka na kuanza kuturudisha wakenya katika enzi za KANU. Kenya ya leo, MAHAKAMA zimekuwa butu na za kudharauliwa na wanaojiita viranja wa taifa hili)," he added.
The MP, a former investigative journalist also challenged Judiciary chief David Maraga to take his stand and act accordingly so as to protect the courts.
This comes at a time the government has disobeyed several court orders among them that to allow Miguna Migun back into the country.
