Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has hit out at Jubilee Party politicians over what he said was defying President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive for politicians to stop engaging in politics and work for those who elected them.
Speaking on Sunday in Elgeyo Marakwet county, the outspoken lawmaker said that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders had decided to listen to their party leader Raila Odinga.
"When Raila says we go left, we go left, when he says we go right, we go right, when he asks us to embrace the handshake, we embrace the handshake. Jubilee politicians have decided to defy their leader Uhuru Kenyatta. When he tells them to stop politicking, they won't listen to him. (Sisi Raila akituambia left tunaenda left, akisema right tuanenda right, akisema handshake tunaenda handshake. Watu ya Jubilee wanadharau kiongozi yao Uhuru Kenyatta. Akiambia hao wawache siasa hawasikii), " Junet said.
The MP also lashed out at local leaders of Elgeyo Marakwet for being behind the suffering of their people, citing the importation of cheap maize and the Kimwarer Dam scandal said to have seen billions of shillings embezzled.
He called on leaders to come together and vouch for inclusivity so that every Kenyan can feel that they belong together.
Junet also cautioned that politics would undermine efforts to bring the country together.
