The two moved court attendants into laughter during a Thursday court session after they accused hunger of having lured them into committing the offence. Appearing before Chief Magistrate Hon. Bernard Mararo, the two Alex Kemboi and Jose Loreng were accused of illegal access into a stall belonging to Ms Margaret Muithereo and looting two maize sacks valued at Sh5,000.

Secondly, the duo was also charged for forcibly accessing a house belonging to Mr. Musa Muyiya before escaping with a pair of trouser valued at Sh1,050.

Another charged also meted on them entailed handling of stolen valuables. The accused are said to have committed the offence on December 29, 2019 at Namba Nane area, Rongai Sub-county Nakuru County. The two were convicted on their own plea and handed a two-year jail sentence.

"Having listened to your mitigation, though a deterrent sentence must be applied. Both will serve two years in jail, with the sentence running concurrently," ruled judge Mararo.

The court heard how Ms Margaret found her stall broken into and two maize bags missing. A lot of maize were scattered on the ground with a spillage leading to the suspects' house where the two bags were found.

On the other part, Mr. Muyiya narrated how he returned home at night from church, only to find his house broken into, and his bag having his clothes missing. The lost bag was then found at the house of the accused during the maize bags' search. This led to the two being arrested and taken to Menengai Police Station.
