Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has hit out at Chief Justice David Maraga, terming him a non-performer. In a tweet on Thursday, Ahmednassir said that the Chief Justice has done little as far as the fight against graft is concerned.
He lamented that there have been dirty deals at the Judiciary yet the Chief Justice has done nothing over the same. He was responding to a story published on Daily Nation, Justice on Trial as Court Faces Crisis. The story highlights that the CJ is walking a tightrope because of the graft in his office.
“When NOBODY RESPECTS you or TAKE Your serious...the defining feature of CJ Maraga's TROUBLED tenure...and it is during his tenure when CORRUPTION and DEALS were normalised in the SUPREME COURT of KENYA...@dkmaraga @lawsocietykenya @Paul_Muite,” he tweeted.
In February, Senior Counsel Abdullahi’s law firm wrote to the Judicial Service Commission seeking resignation of four judges from the Supreme Court. The lawyer faulted the judges for receiving bribes before delivering the ruling on the Wajir Gubernatorial race.
“We envisage to file a complete petition for the removal of judges, it will take us two weeks to compile our evidence and witness statements,” said Abdullahi.
He added: “You must file a petition under the Constitution, my client has all the evidence.” The push by the lawyer elicited mixed reactions from all factions. He termed the Supreme Court as the ‘house of the corrupt’.
