In a tweet, Dr David Ndii rejected the notion that he has nothing to stand for and that he had given up on Kenya given the country's struggles.

"Why would I risk my life exposing the corruption and standing up to this murderous duo for a country that I have given up on? What do you stand for?" the renowned scholar wrote.

David Ndii has long been an implacable critic of the Jubilee government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Dr William Ruto.

He has on numerous occasions called out the government over corruption and cast serious aspersions on President Uhuru Kenyatta's ability to lead.

His greatest criticism of the government had to do with how the Euro bond was used.

In a point by point article, Mr Ndii portrayed a government steeped in corruption, showing, in his estimation, how the Euro bond cash was misappropriated and embezzled at the taxpayer's expense.

In the lead up to to the contested 2017 presidential election, he threw in his lot with the National Super Alliance (NASA) as a member of the coalitions decision-making and research organ.
