The Directorate of Criminal Investigation has denied claims that detectives have recovered IEDs and arrested several terror suspects at Matiangoni, Kilifi County.
On Wednesday, DCI came forth to make the record straight after claims of a foiled terror attack started doing rounds on social media and other platforms.
"ATTENTION!!! WE wish to notify members of the Public that the allegations being circulated on Social Media of some IEDs been recovered & several terror suspects arrested by #DCI ATPU Detectives at Matiangoni, Kilifi County are both FALSE & MISLEADING. Facts are that NO DCI," DCI tweeted.
"Detective nor any other Police Officer recovered any such Explosives nor arrested any such Suspects at the said area. All Security Agencies from Kilifi, Ganze, Rabai, Mariakani SGR Terminus, Mombasa SGR Terminus & DCI Units across the region have confirmed that no such operation was conducted by them. As such, investigations to establish the author & motive of the false alarming story have been launched, " added DCI in a separate tweet.
