Speaking on Sunday during a wide-ranging panel discussion aired on Standard Media Group-owned Kenya Television Network (KTN), Mr Mokua wondered why the chief justice was behaving like a member of the civil society and why he was naming the people frustrating him.

"When he says there are some people who want to send him home, he is the CJ, why is he behaving like a member of the civil society? Is he not supposed to name these people?" Dismus Mokua said.

Chief Justice David Maraga, in a televised address last week, warned that operations of the Judiciary stood the risk of grinding to a halt due to the frustrations he was facing.

He said that the office of chief justice was not being accorded the respect that was due to it, warning that he start choosing which functions to attend and which ones not to attend unless his office is respected.

Maraga held the view that the frustrations were deliberately calculated to exert control on the judiciary, a violation of the constitutional principal of separation of powers.
