Kenyatta University fraternity is mourning the demise of Prof Agnes Gathumbi and Dr Isaac Mwangi.

The two were among 157 passengers who perished after ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crashed moments after leaving Addis Ababa on its way to Nairobi.

Leaders from different parts of Kenya have condoled with the families of the deceased. 

Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura took to social media and revealed that the two were part of the team that taught him while at KU.

”Condolences to the families of all those who died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash today. Dr. Agnes Gathumbi who was my lecturer in KU, Brigadier George Kabugi of KAA (in the picture shaking hands) and Juliet Otieno (2nd photo, 2nd left), Ag HR Manager at KAA. @KenyaAirports,” Senator Mwaura said.

Mount Kenya University Chairman Simon Gicharu has also condoled with the family following the deaths.

“My condolences to families of the victims of the #EthiopianAirlinesCrash and in particular Prof Agnes Gathumbi and Dr Isaac Mwangi of Kenyatta University. I met Dr Mwangi in my Thika office last Dec. when working with Prof Mugenda on a @CODESRIA -funded University Leaders Project," he said through Twitter.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the crash.
