Law enforcers from Embu on Saturday nabbed a trader on allegations that he was trading counterfeit and at the same time contaminated flour.
The police officers stormed the factory associated with the trader at Kianjokoma market following public tip-off, resulting to his arrest.
The suspect was locked up in Embu police station for interrogation.
Police arrested and chained him while he attempted fleeing.
The flour which was seized from him during his arrest was reportedly awaiting analysis at the government chemist in Nairobi.
He will be arraigned in court once the concerned bodies are done with their investigations.
The residents were shocked on the counterfeit and contamination revelations noting how they had been buying and consuming the flour without any speculations.
"For a long time we have been feeding on the commodity. We are to learn that the flour may not be fit for human consumption," James Nyaga, one of the residents, told Nation.
Daniel Rukunga, County Police Commander said it was their responsibility to see that all people were kept off from all cunning business people.
"We had to act fast upon hearing that a trader is dealing with flour which may be poisonous," stated Mr. Rukunga.
