National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has faulted Thirdway Alliance Leader Ekuru Aukot over his bid to amend the constitution.
Through the Punguza Mizigo bill, Aukot and his party have been seeking to among others, reduce elective representation and abolish a number of seats, including the Deputy Governor.
Though he remains hopeful that the bill could still pass, even after being rejected by 6 of the 7 county assemblies that have considered it, Duale on Sunday found his hopes ridiculous.
He noted that the ex-presidential aspirant failed terribly in the 2017 polls, and it's questionable how he expects the bill to pass yet he doesn't have even one ward representative.
"Ekuru Aukot has no single MCA. He lost terribly in the presidential, senatorial, gubernatorial, parliamentary and county assembly elections and even didn’t qualify to get one nominated MCA. So how does he expect his Bill to sail through?” he said.
Aukot says that those dismissing his bill as already collapsed are lying as there remains quite a number of assemblies yet to discuss it.
He also bashed Deputy President William Ruto, who last Sunday claimed that the bill is falling being exclusive, accusing him of taking a position that goes against the wish of Kenyans.
"By lying to a whole nation that the Punguza Mizigo Bill has failed, before 40 counties have debated it, the Deputy President has shown his contempt for the ordinary mwananchi that he has failed and lied to in the last six years,” he said.
