Speaking to the press on Thursday in Nairobi, the leaders said that the second in command should leave the CS and his PS to discharge their duties as designated by the head of state.

Led by Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga, the lawmakers said that the recent attacks against Matiang'i and Kibicho are uncalled for.

They argued that the DP is not sincere in his remarks against the duo, adding that time has come for the leaders to resolve their differences for the sake of the nation’s economic empowerment.

“These are very loaded and desperate warnings which cannot just be wished away,” read a statement from the lawmakers, as quoted by The Star.

The leaders who were present during the press briefing were Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town), Milly Odhiambo (Suba North), Momanyi Jerusha (Nyamira), Memusi Kanchory (Kajiado North), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North), Fatuma Gedi (Wajir), Rosa Buyu (Kisumu), Anthony Oluoch (Mathare) and Okong’o Omogeni (Nyamira).

Others were Samuel Arama (Nakuru West), Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South), Janet Ong'era (Kisii), Ken Chonga (Kilifi South) and Peris Tobiko (Kajiado East).

The remarks come after Ruto warned government officials against chest-thumping themselves while in line with their duties.

The remarks were seen to target CS Matiang’i, which has since caused a political storm.
