Already, the country is looking at possible changes under the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), whose task force recently made a number of proposals needed for a better country.

However, the lawmaker, one of those who initially put up a strong fight against the BBI debate, now says that the push should be abandoned for better issues.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, she noted that the BBI has no visible benefits so far, proposing a replacement with a push for economic recovery.

"Why can’t we put aside the BBI. So far it has produced nothing and many of us agreed to support it but it was returned back. I think we should abandon it completely,” she said.

The MP's stand comes as a contradiction to President Uhuru Kenyatta, her leader in the Jubilee Party, who is among the leaders who have vowed to push the initiative to success.

Uhuru, during a recent function in Gatundu North, warned politicians against speaking ill of the report, especially those who have been opposing it since the conception of the initiative.

The BBI report proposes among others, compulsory admission of youths into the National Youth Service (NYS) and the creation of a weak Prime Ministerial slot.
