A night guard was killed on Sunday night after armed gunmen attacked one bar at Kithimani, Yatta sub-county, Machakos county.

According to Yatta police boss Joseph Karanja, the gang forced their entry into the premises through a window at around 4 A.M. in the morning.

Speaking to media personalities present, he said that the owner of the bar was injured during the attack and he is nursing injuries at Matuu Level 4  Hospital.

"Workers who were inside notified the owner about the robbery. When he came he was attacked by the robbers who left him for the dead," said Karanja.

"While escaping another watchman from a nearby premise met them where they attacked him by hitting him in the head. By the time the police arrived he was already dead," he added.

Karanja stated that the gang managed to escape with different brands of liquor of unknown amount.

He said the police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the crime.

"We are searching for them to share they are brought to book," he said.

He said the body of the man who died was moved to Matuu level four hospital mortuary for preservation.
