Phoebe Awino, the woman said to have delivered twins for ODM leader Raila Odinga's son, the late Fidel Odinga, has rubbished a suit filed by Fidel's mother Ida Odinga.
Ida, who is locked in a property tussle with Fidel's legitimate wife Lwam Bekele, has filed a case alongside her youngest daughter Winnie, seeking to block Bekele from Fidel's estate.
Awino has since dismissed the case filed by Ida, terming it malicious, and now wants to be included in the case to "clear the air", in the interest of her children.
This is after the court allowed for a DNA test to ascertain if the twins are indeed children of the late Fidel, after their names popped up in the course of the tussle.
“The petition is marred with ill will and malicious motives, creating a tussle with the deceased's widow on one side and the deceased's mother and siblings on the other," she said through her lawyer John Swaka, on Friday.
In a request filed under a certificate of urgency, she insists that she is the biological mother of the twins, though it remains unclear if she had an intimate relationship with Fidel.
However, her colleagues at a Forex Bureau at Adams arcade said that the late Fidel used to carry out his M-Pesa transactions and change his money at the bureau.
However, the birth certificates of the children, a boy and a girl, don't identify the father.
In the case, Ida and Winnie have accused Lwam of petitioning the court, with the help of her family members, to be allowed to administer the estate without the knowledge of Fidel's family.
According to Bekele, her mother-in-law is trying to mix up the case by including the said twins, given that they were born months after Fidel's death.
However, she says that she will be willing to include them in the list of beneficiaries if proven to be Fidel's children.
“In the birth certificates attached to the affidavit in support of the cross-petition, there is no indication of the father of the said minors. The said birth certificates do not thus prove paternity of the minors,” said her lawyers.
It has also emerged that Ida proceeded to take the matter to court despite Bekele's lawyer Roger Sagana's attempts to have the matter solved quietly.
Raila has been silent on the matter.
