Vocal lawyer Miguna Miguna has sneered at a call by Siaya Senator James Orengo for a Kikuyu-Luo political alliance ahead of 2022 general election.
Miguna rubbished the proposal as 'contrived tribal nonsense' saying Kenyans were not interested in ethnic politics but were looking forward to a united and democratic country, where the constitution and rule of law will prevail.
"James Orengo: Kenyans want justice and gainful employment for the suffering youth. They want the Constitution upheld, the rule of law to prevail and court orders to be obeyed. They want democracy and GENUINE UNITY of EQUALITY between ALL KENYANS. Not contrived tribal nonsense," the exiled lawyer tweeted on Monday.
Speaking during the burial of second liberation hero Charles Rubia last week, Orengo called for a coalition between 'the lake and the mountain' saying it could go a long way in establishing systems that would work great and make Kenya a better country.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta, be confident that the Kenyan people are behind you about building this system and we have a conversation together without fearing and make Kenya great. We are better than most counties in Africa and Murang’a is right at the centre of Kenya and together, between the lake and the mountain, we can make a greater nation rise,” the Senate Minority Leader said.
The calls for a political alliance between Kikuyu and Luo communities have been intensifying since the March 9, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The two leading politicians are reportedly working together to form a coalition to take over power in 2022, with Raila said to be eyeing the presidency and Uhuru the Prime Minister position.
