The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has suspended operations at the Amboseli Airstrip because of the floods.
On Saturday, KWS announced the suspension of the services until further notice after heavy rainfall on December 12 caused the apron and the visitor service centre to be flooded.
“The airstrip will be reopened when conditions become favourable and we will update you as soon as we resume operations. We regret the inconveniences this closure will undoubtedly cause,” the AirKenya statement reads.
KWS has since asked Kenyans to keep off the facility after the roads at the national park were rendered impassable following the heavy rainfall.
KWS further revealed that most of the roads in national parks across the country have been adversely affected by heavy rains.
Kimana gate at the Amboseli National Park has been listed as one of the areas declared inaccessible following the heavy downpour in the area.
The Water Resources Authority has since asked persons living in areas prone to floods including Tana Delta and Kiambere dam.
The raging floods have caused havoc in different parts of the nation. The government has since out in place different measures to ensure the affected persons’ lives revert to normalcy. Several persons have died since the floods.
