Keroche CEO Tabitha Karanja has dismissed claims of tax evasion after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) ordered for her arrested alongside her husband Joseph Karanja.
Karanja said that she is a law abiding citizen, adding that she has been complying with tax obligations. She insisted that she doesn’t owe the Kenya Tax Authority (KRA) Sh14 billion as alleged by the DPP Nordin Haji.
She said that the war claiming that she didn’t pay the taxes is stage managed by her competitors.
This remarks came after the Director of Criminal Investigations and KRA sent officers at the firm following an order of arrest. Tabitha said that she is ready to present herself to the detectives over the matter to shed more light on the same.
"Am shocked by the new allegations leveled against me, my husband and Keroche Breweries and this is pure malice," she said, as quoted by Standard.
She said that the order of the arrest comes at a wrong time. She noted that the warrant of arrest comes less than a month after her firm launched KB lager noting.
"This is a vendetta war launched by my competitors and am ready to face the taxman and the DPP to prove my innocence," she added.
