Popular Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi on Friday explained why most comedians tend to make tribal jokes which are sometimes considered either dirty or unwelcome.

The award-winning comedian who was speaking during an interview on Citizen TV claimed that people love jokes that they can easily relate to.

He, nonetheless, admitted that a number of people had raised concern over the type of content that comedians produce.

"Guys have been on our case that our content is either tribal or dirty. They are saying that it is either tribal or dirty, but I just want to say that even in America, people laugh at what they can relate to, people like to laugh at themselves. So when you here someone talking about the Kisiis... (Sasa ukiskia mtu akisema eeh wakisii). They are not being tribal, they are trying to relate to Kenyans," Omondi explained.

 He pointed out that he loves criticism.

The comedian who has been in the industry for approximately 10 years, has on several occasions attracted the attention of the internet with some of the netizens questioning some of the content that he produces. 

During the interview, where he was invited to talk about the 'dark side' of comedy admitted that being consistent is what has made him remain relevant for such a long time.
