Governor John Nyagarama's night trip to Kisumu on Saturday has raised questions among residents with a number of them accusing him of running the county government as a kiosk.
And on Saturday, a source privy to the governor intimated that he traveled to Kisumu where he was going to meet MPs over an 'urgent' matter.
Top of the agenda in Kisumu, the source said, was allocation of Chief Officer slots to MPs so that they continue giving him unwavering support.
"Yes, I can confirm they are currently in Kisumu and among the issues they are discussing is allocations of Chief Officer positions," he said.
Since taking over in the second term, Nyagarama has been struggling to stamp authority and has not filled key positions in the departments thus sluggish service delivery.
A sitting Chief Officer, who spoke in confidence, said the governor is keen to bring new faces to his government.
"Unfortunately, he is filling the positions by consulting MPs instead of CPSB. Chances that some of us will retain are zero," he said.
Former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has accused MPs of abandoning their oversight roles after being compromised by the governor.
"He has compromised them. None of them is speaking about the under development in our county. This is quite sad," he said.
When contacted, GPS operative Nyambega Gisesa could not deny or admit about details of the meeting but only said it was supposed to take place in Nairobi.
"I know he was to meet MPs to discuss development in Nairobi," he said.
Those who attended Kisumu meeting include Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango).
County MP Jerusha Momanyi was out of the country while Senator Okong'o Mogeni snubbed the governor.
