The Senator has been the talk of the town since he was linked to the fake gold scandal, which for the past few days has gripped country's attention.

It has been alleged that the former Foreign Affairs Minister was part of a cartel that swindled the ruler of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed Al-Makhtoum, Sh400 million in a gold scam.

To make the matters worse for him, audio has leaked where a man is captured telling another, believed to be working for the royal family, he is working to ensure his gold consignment, purportedly confiscated at JKIA, is released and sent to Dubai.

Kenyans have concluded that the man, who even invokes the name of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga in the alleged scam, is Wetang'ula.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has confirmed the Senator was part of the scam and has lined up him for questioning.

“Our preliminary investigations have confirmed that the former Foreign Affairs Minister was actively involved in the syndicate, and we would like to establish his role in the whole deal. We would like to know whether he was a victim or a complicit player,” said Kinoti.

Like that trouble is not enough for one man, Wetang'ula's deputy in the Ford Kenya party, Dr Boni Khalwale, has dumped him.

The former Kakamega Senator bade Wetang'ula goodbye on Friday and headed to Jubilee Party where he was warmly welcomed by Deputy President William Ruto.

For a man who has just been dumped, facing persistent online ridicule and who the DCI can arrest any moment, his real friends need to be around him.

He needs them for empathy, comfort and solidarity.
