A middle-aged man together and a 16-year-old girl have been arrested in Tala town, Matungulu sub county of Machakos county.
The man is accused of opening his bar earlier than it is permitted by the law and also employing a minor.
Tala location chief Pius Nzioka confirmed the incident saying that the arrests were made courtesy of a coordinated operation by him and his assistant from Kyaume sub-location.
He said that he had received a tip-off about clubs operating outside the designated hours in the area and took it upon himself to investigate.
"I had received reports that some bars open as early as 6 am so today together with my assistant we conducted an operation at around that time," said Nzioka.
"At Vision club, we were able to arrest the owner and to our dismay, the attendant was a minor aged 16 years. We took her with us," he added.
He said that the duo is held at Tala police post awaiting arraignment in court.
The administrator went ahead to warn that the operation will continue to ensure the law is followed.
"These bar owners should follow the rules because they know what the law says. We won't spare anyone found," he said.
A few weeks ago Machakos county commissioner Esther Maina warned that stringent measures will be taken against bar owners found flouting rules.
She warned that alcohol should not be sold to minors at all and anyone found won't escape the long arm of the law.
