Lead by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the party's National Elections Board (NEB) gave the cleared aspirants up to Tuesday mid-day to pay their nomination fees.

"The NEB has today vetted and cleared 20 aspirants for the vacant Kibra seat to take part in the party nomination exercise scheduled for Saturday 31st August 2019. The cleared aspirants have up to tomorrow midday to pay the nomination fee to be eligible for the exercise," said ODM Party in a tweet

Each aspirant is supposed to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of Sh250,000.

If all the 20 cleared aspirants will pay the said amount, the ODM party will have Sh5 million in its account.

ODM considers Kibra as its stronghold and any party member who will win the nominations is considered favourite in becoming the next Kibra Member of Parliament.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Ken Okoth.

Some of the aspirants who have declared their desire for the party ticket include; Imran Okoth (the late MP Okoth's brother and PA), Reggae DJ Kriss Darlin, Benson Musungu (ODM National Youth Coordinator), Sigar Agumba and Peter Orero (Dagoretti High School Principal) among others.
