The owner of Precious Talents Academy Moses Wainaina will remain in police custody for 15 more days pending a probe into the deaths of eight students at the facility.
On Friday, the court ordered the school head to remain behind bars until the investigation is complete so that he appears in court to respond to the charges levelled against him.
Wainana was arrested on Thursday after the collapse of the school building, which also left scores injured.
Magistrate Joyce Gandani said that the incident is tragic and there is need to investigate the same into detail.
“Death of a single pupil is catastrophic. Thorough investigations need to be conducted,” Gandani said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
She also asked the police to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and Urban Planning so that they can get reports on the matter with immediate effect to allow for further probe into the matter.
An officer tasked with investigation asked the court to reject the bail application of the owner of the school, arguing that he is likely to interfere with evidence in the case.
He also said that Wainana is at the risk of being attacked by the members of the public after the incident because he had raised public emotions.
