When the government recruited Cuban doctors to work in Kenyan hospitals, the KMPDU secretary-general was up in arms.

On Thursday, he weighed in on the vexed issue of contracts being given to foreigners.

In a tweet, he called on the government to address the issues that were making it overlook locals in awarding of contracts.

He appealed to the government to make investments in dealing with the indiscipline and corruption that make it difficult for locals to be given lucrative contracts.

"If our problem with local contractors, local doctors, local businesses is indiscipline or stealing as we know it or quality, then the country must invest to eliminate those bad things. Kenya is sick with delusions of reference and blame game for our own. When shall we build?" Dr Ouma Oluga's tweet read.

Other than contracting the Cubans to offer legal services in Kenya, the government has also contracted the Chinese to construct multi-billion roads, making many wonder why Kenyan civil engineers have not been given the lucrative contracts.

Corruption continues to be a huge problem in Kenya with billions of shillings said to be lost annually.
